Purple Plumber Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions ("Terms") apply to every quotation, invoice, and job undertaken by Purple Plumber ("the Company", "we", "us") for the client ("the Client", "you"). By accepting a quote, whether in writing, verbally, or by allowing work to commence, the Client agrees to be bound by these Terms.

1. Quotations

1.1 The labour portion of the quotation is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, and the materials portion of the quotation is valid for 7 days, unless otherwise stated. Prices may be adjusted after these periods due to changes in material costs or availability.

1.2 Quotations are based on a visual inspection and/or information supplied by the Client. Where underground pipework, wall cavities, or other concealed areas are involved, unforeseen conditions discovered once work begins may result in a revised quotation, which will be communicated to the Client before further work proceeds.

1.3 All quotations exclude VAT unless stated otherwise. VAT will be added at the applicable rate.

1.4 A quotation is accepted by way of a signature, email confirmation, EFT deposit payment, or by instructing the Company to proceed.

2. Payment Terms

2.1 A deposit of 70% of the total quoted amount is required before work commences, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2.2 The balance is due on completion of the work, before the Company issues any Certificate of Compliance (COC), unless alternative payment terms have been agreed in writing.

2.3 Accepted payment methods: EFT / bank transfer to the account detailed on the invoice.

2.4 Outstanding invoices not settled within 14 days of the due date will attract interest at 24% per annum calculated monthly, and the Company reserves the right to suspend further work, including issuing the COC, until payment is received in full.

2.5 Any bank charges, collection costs, or legal fees incurred in recovering unpaid amounts will be for the Client's account.

2.6 Call outs during standard working hours (08:00 - 17:00) are charged at R650.00. Call outs after hours and weekends will be charged at R750.00.

3. Scope of Work and Variations

3.1 Work will be carried out strictly according to the scope described in the quotation. Any additional work requested by the Client, or required due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. damaged/corroded pipework discovered during the job), will be quoted separately and requires the Client's approval before proceeding, except where immediate action is required to prevent damage, flooding, or a health and safety risk.

3.2 The Company is not responsible for pre-existing faults, damage, or non-compliant installations not included in the original scope of work, unless specifically inspected and quoted for.

4. Access, Site Conditions and Client Obligations

4.1 The Client must ensure safe and reasonable access to the property and work area at the agreed date and time.

4.2 The Client is responsible for informing the Company of the location of any existing services (electrical cabling, gas lines, irrigation, fibre cables etc.) not visible on inspection.

4.3 Where municipal water or electricity supply is required to carry out the work, the Client must ensure this is available on site.

4.4 Should the Company be unable to gain access or complete work due to circumstances outside its control (e.g. no access, no water/electricity on site, unsafe conditions), a call-out or standby fee may apply.

4.5 If the Company’s personnel determine, in their sole discretion, that the environment or the Client’s behavior is unsafe, hostile, or inappropriate, the Contractor reserves the right to immediately cease all work, leave the premises, and terminate the service agreement. In such an event, the Client remains fully liable for the cost of all materials used and labor performed up to the exact time of work stoppage.

4.6 The Client agrees to provide a safe, respectful, and appropriate working environment for the Contractor and its employees or subcontractors while on the Client’s premises. The Contractor strictly prohibits any form of inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to, verbal abuse, harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, physical threats, or exposure to hazardous or unsafe personal behavior.

5. Materials and Workmanship

5.1 All materials supplied will be of good quality and suitable for the intended purpose, complying with relevant SANS standards and the National Building Regulations. 5.2 Where the Client supplies their own materials or fittings, the Company accepts no responsibility for the performance, quality, or compliance of those materials, and any COC issued will note this exclusion where applicable. 5.3 Workmanship is guaranteed for a period of 12 months from the date of completion, covering defects arising directly from faulty installation. This guarantee excludes damage caused by misuse, third-party interference, normal wear and tear, or issues arising from pre-existing plumbing not part of the original job.
